Join us for a truly memorable dining experience in some of Medway’s most spectacular and unusual settings. An experience that celebrates the diversity of our wonderful Kentish & British produce cooked with imagination and passion.

afternoon tea  

We take reservations for Afternoon Tea daily from 15:30, when you book you will be asked for to pay a deposit which is deducted off your final bill on the day. If the option for afternoon does not show at 15:30 onwards, we may be fully booked for your desired slot. All deposits are fully exchangeable with 48hrs notice. Please note that we do not accept Buy a Gift or Red Letter Day vouchers.

Accesbility

Our Grade II Listed Rochester cafe is fully accessible on the ground floor (with some restrictions due to the historic nature of the building) but does not contain a lift to reach the upper levels and the boardroom. Please let us know if you have a pram, require disabled access or need a more accessible table.  Due to the historical nature of our Rochester café restaurant,we do not have space at the side of the table for the pram to remain with you, we have a safe area to store your pram during your visit.  

booking size & younger guests

You can reserve tables from 2 to 6 guests at all our award-winning locations. Please include younger guests in the final booking number, otherwise we may be unable to sit your party. We can’t book a single table larger than six guests at present. In Rochester the table for 6 guests is in the boardroom. If there is no availability showing, please contact our reservations team directly as we may be able to assist. 01634 406971

A £2 per person cover charge will be applied to guests dining in the boardroom – this is a donation to the Halpern Charitable Foundation for their community outreach programmes in the Medway Towns.

Although we welcome younger guests at our café restaurants, we don’t offer a children’s menu. We have limited space for prams and buggies due to the historic nature of some of our buildings.

Do you offer Private Hire?
We currently don’t offer private hire at any of collection of café restaurants, it is possible to have exclusive use of the boardroom when you book 30 places for Afternoon tea for a 2 hour sitting however. 

Can I keep my pram at the side of the table?
Unfortunately due to the space restrictions and historic nature of some of our café restaurants, we don’t allow prams to be kept at the side of the table. This is a health and safety restriction, we can not serve over a pram with an infant as we are handling hot food and beverages. We do have a space area for prams to be stored for the duration of your visit, we also offer high chairs*. (*Subject to availability)

Can I choose where I sit? 
We offer a choice of interior dining or Alfresco garden dining. We will always try our best to accommodate requests but can’t guarantee a table in desired dining area other than inside or in the garden. The Boardroom at Café Nucleus Rochester is always very popular and is allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Are Dogs welcome at Café Nucleus?
We welcome well behaved pooches in both our café restaurants and gardens.

Do you have a Children’s menu? 
Although we welcome younger guests into our café restaurants, we don’t offer a children’s menu or facilities to keep them entertain during the dining experience.

Can I have a larger table than six?
Currently at our café restaurants the largest single table we can accommodate is for six guests, it is possible to book multiple individual tables but these will be separate.

Are you Covid-Secure?
Across our collection of café restaurants our teams are tested daily with a Lateral flow test. Our housekeeping team launders all napkins and hand towels at 90° and our chairs are deep cleaned weekly with an antibacterial and viral detergent. We continue to bring fresh air into the building through our ventilation system, we monitored our air quality through CO² monitor/alarm and by analysing the PM2.5 level through our hepa air filtration. We have ensured whether you sit inside or in the gardens there is sufficient ventilation and air flow.

Inline with the British Governments requirements, we no-longer expect every guest to check in to the NHS Test and Trace,  the majority of guests who visit Café Nucleus have booked allowing us, should we ever need to, to pass on the details to NHS test and trace.

Dress Code

Our dining atmosphere is casual and comfortable. To reflect this environment, we maintain a smart casual dress code. To keep with our standards of dining we ask that you, our guests, dress in a suitable manner to fit your memorable dining experience.

We take reservations for brunch, lunch and dinner. To make a reservation, please call us on 01634 406971 between 10am-5pm, Monday to Sunday

Credit Cards

We take your credit card for a deposit for booking Afternoon Tea in the boardroom. These deposits are fully exchangeable with 48hrs notice.
